The Reason Behind the Season
Well here is the good news!
The gift of God is eternal life in Heaven. He gives the gift of salvation freely to all who ask, no matter how late in their lives nor how sinful they have been. Nobody is so bad that they can't be saved and nobody is so good that they need not be saved.
God says that all who accept the sacrifice of His sinless Son Jesus Christ as payment for their sins will spend eternity in Heaven.
Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God died on a cross, was buried, and came back to life to pay for all of our sins (past, present and future).
Jesus said, "I am the door, if anyone enters by me, they WILL BE SAVED..." John 10:9.
The Bible also says in Mark 1:15, "Repent and believe the good news!"
The death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the payment for our sins, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave is our receipt. That's the good news!
All we have to do is repent (turn towards God for salvation) and believe the good news. Salvation is not a reward but a gift to those who believe.
Even good people still need to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. This passage in the Bible says, "ALL PEOPLE HAVE SINNED, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
Salvation is simply glorious and gloriously simple.
Just pray this simple prayer from your heart:
"Dear Jesus Christ, I believe that You are the Son of God. I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that You suffered the punishment for my sins by Your death on the cross, and that You arose from the grave. I now receive You into my heart as my Lord and Saviour. Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for forgiving me and for saving me through Your merciful grace. Amen."If you said that prayer and meant it, God heard you and forgave you. You are now saved and on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God!
Those of you who are still thinking about it, think about this. If you refuse to acknowledge what Jesus Christ did for you on that cross, you will forever remain in your sins. Wouldn't it be terrible to die and go to Hell when all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour? The choice of where we will spend eternity is before each of us, whether we will go to everlasting punishment in Hell or spend eternal life with Jesus Christ in Heaven.
If you were saved just now, then I suggest that you get a New International Version Bible. The NIV Bible is more easy to read and understand. A good place to start reading the Holy Bible would be the book of John. You should also be baptised in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.
