My Parents Dedication Page

This page is dedicated to the most wonderful parents in the world, my parents. They raised me (an only child) in the "nurture and admonition
of the Lord" and I thank the Lord for them and the godly background they gave me as a foundation to my life. I certainly would not be where I am
today without their nurture, guidance, love and care throughout my childhood, my teenage years, and young adult years. They are, and continue to
be, one of my life's biggest blessings. Thanks, Mom and Dad! I love you!

*note - my mom passed away on June 23, 2003, and is sorely missed by all in the family.
I will do a page dedicated to her some time in the near future.**

My dad loves trains! His career was spent on the inside of a steam engine, and then later, a diesel engine, working as the engineer. He worked
for the Frisco Railroad for most of his career, and then later for the Burlington Northern Railroad (they merged with the Frisco). He retired several
years ago being one of the most respected engineers among those he worked with.
He received many awards for excellence in performance and safety standards. He took pride in doing the best job he could, and was praised by
many company officials for his excellence and standards of quality work. He passed his work ethic and high standards on to his only daughter
(that's me, in case you hadn't figured that out!)

My dad is also a man who is totally dedicated to his family. Growing up, our family (both immediate family and
extended family) was top priority. We did things together as a family, and some of my fondest memories are of
vacations and trips we took as a family. My dad has such a great sense of humor and can always make me laugh.
That's one thing I really enjoy when I get to spend time at Mom and Dad's for any length of time -- my dad's great sense
of humor and wit. He's really down to earth and a great judge of character in people -- and funny! Some people say I got my
sense of humor from my dad. I would certainly hope so -- because he does have a wonderful sense of humor!!

My mother taught me a lot about work ethic, also. She was a dedicated Christian, raising me in church. She made sure
I was in church (along with her) most every time the doors were open. Even though my dad was gone a lot, especially when
I was younger, because of his work, still my mom and I were in church on a regular basis. Because of the training and foundation
' I received at that little Baptist church, the Lord has had a good and solid foundation to build upon in my life. As I have said in my
testimony, the Lord used many people and events to shape my life. My mother was one of the main people
He used to build the foundation of grace in my life. She taught Sunday school for many different age groups for as long as I can remember!
She was also actively involved in whatever I was involved in: kids' activities, youth group, or whatever. We were both in the choir
(she, in Adult Choir, and I in youth choir), and we both love to sing and play piano. She taught me how to play "ragtime" and "jazz" -- you know,
that old-time stuff! Her brother had a bluegrass band and she used to play piano for them sometimes. I remember many a Friday night
when they would practice, falling asleep on the couch to the tunes of "Wildwood Flower" and "Orange Blossom Special,"
with my mother playing the piano and my uncle (my mom's brother) on fiddle.
