Kiwi & Skyler's Page

Hi! We are Kiwi, the Senegal and Skyler, the Quaker Parrot. Nice to meet you! We are settling in our new home very nicely... we have only been here since the weekend of February 3rd-4th,(2001) and already we are rotten! But that's the way we like it!! LOL

Kiwi talking:
I got here first, so technically I'm the "oldest bird child!" Actually, I really AM older than Skyler. I'm 2 years old, (in 2001) and have spent the last six months of my life in a pet store. I was originally purchased by a nice lady, whose health got bad, and couldn't devote any time to me, so she returned me to the pet store where she originally got me from. I love the pet store owner, who hand fed me from a baby. But I knew I wanted a "real" home in a house, not a pet store. I'm SO glad to be here.... it's great!!

Skyler talking:
Just because Kiwi got here first doesn't mean she's top bird.... that should be ME! They don't call us little green chickens for nothing..... I originally came from the same pet store as Kiwi, and had a similar thing happen to me. The family who got me was just SO busy and their lives were so demanding that they couldn't give me the time I really wanted and needed. But instead of taking me back to the pet store, I just came directly here to my new home. Now I get to see my former owners from time to time, cos they all work just right next door to where we live!! That's really cool..... I LOVE this place!!!

As all good little birdies do, we want a nice spacious home to live in. This new house mom just moved into has LOTS of windows for us to look out of, and lots of trees and interesting things to look at.

We are learning SO many things here in our new home! We LOVE apples, pasta, punkin' seeds, spaghetti (without the sauce, of course!), and very best of all, PEANUTS! Skyler has learned how to take a bath in the sink (Kiwi says, No THANKS!) and how to say "Pretty birdie!" Kiwi got a new cage with a "skirt" around it to catch food, feathers, etc. .... a gold Preview Hendricks!! She just loves it!!! Skyler already had a white Preview cage, but a smaller model. But she loves her cage just as much as Kiwi does! And of course we have BOTH gotten LOTS of new toys and treats! Kiwi has discovered wooden clothes pins and how fun they are to chomp! Skyler's not as crazy about them as Kiwi is, though. But that's okay -- to each their own, we always say!!
